If the analytics CSV export shows "unreadable contents" or garbled text, import the CSV file into your spreadsheet app.
You download the analytics exports for spaces and desks as a CSV file from the Robin dashboard. If your data includes a "non-latin language", the CSV export can have an encoding problem when you open it. In the most common spreadsheet clients, such as Excel, you can see a warning that says "unreadable contents", or the data looks garbled and is hard to read.
Import the CSV file in Excel
To fix it, import the CSV file in your spreadsheet app. These steps use the "Text import wizard" in Excel. Other spreadsheet clients work in a similar way.
-
Open Excel, open the File menu in the top toolbar, and select Import.
-
Select the CSV file option as the type of file to import, and select import.
-
Select the CSV export from your saved files.
-
In the "Text import wizard", select Delimited as the data type that best describes your data. Select Unicode (UTF-8) as the file origin. Select next.
-
Set the delimiters your data contains: select the Comma option. Select next.
-
Set the column data format to general. Select finish.
