Set up a badge printer so your arrival display prints guest badges.
What you need
To print badges, you need:
- An iPad that runs iPadOS 16.0 or later
- A supported badge printer
- Brother Genuine DK-2251 badge labels. Arrival displays must use the official Brother Genuine brand.
Robin Arrivals does not support Android devices.
Supported badge printers
Robin supports these badge printers. Robin recommends the Brother QL-820NWB for the best experience.

- Brother QL-820NWBc
- Brother QL-720NW
- Brother QL-710W
Use a static IP address
Robin works best when your printer has a static IP address. With the automatic setting (sometimes marked "DHCP"), the printer can change its IP address from time to time. This breaks the connection with Robin. You may need your IT department to get a static IP address for your printer.
Set up a Brother badge printer to print over wifi
Set up the printer first. Then add the arrival display and the printer in the web dashboard, and pair them in Robin Arrivals.
Step 1: Set up the printer
- Turn on the printer.
- Use the up and down arrows to set the printer's date/time and language.
- Select the Menu button to go to the WLAN settings.

Set WLAN to "ON".
- Go back to the WLAN settings.

Select "infra Manual Setting".
- Select the network that your arrival display iPad connects to.
- Enter the network password. The printer shows "connected" when it connects.
- Go to the main WLAN settings.

Select WLAN > WLAN Status > Infrastructure Mode to find the IP address.

Write down the IP address. It shows next to "IP Addr:" as a series of numbers separated by periods, for example
192.168.1.43or10.2.1.34.
You use this IP address to pair the badge printer with the arrival display in Step 2. Use the same IP address for each. To find it later in the web dashboard, go to Manage > Devices, select the Badge Printers tab, then select Edit next to the printer.

Step 2: Add the arrival display and printer in the web dashboard
- In the web dashboard, go to Manage > Devices.
- Select Add a device in the top right corner.
- Select Arrival Display.
- Select where the arrival display is in the Building drop-down menu.
- Give the arrival display a Name people recognize.
- Turn on Enable badge printing.
- To show a photo ID on badges, turn on Enable guest image capture.

Connect the badge printer.
If this building has no badge printers yet, the Connect printer section shows. Give the badge printer a name people recognize, enter its IP address, then select Connect. To find the IP address, see Step 1: Set up the printer.
If you already have badge printers, select one in the Printer list. To add a different printer, select Add new printer, enter its name and IP address, then select Connect.
- Select Add display.
- Note the pairing code. You use it to register your device and complete the arrival display registration.
Step 3: Pair the printer with the arrival display
The arrival display and the badge printer must be on the same network to pair.
- On the iPad, install Robin Arrivals from the Apple App Store.
- Open the app and enter the pairing code.
- Select Next. The app asks for permission to find and connect to devices on your local network.
- Select Allow to give pairing permission.
- If you include badge photos, select Allow to give camera access.
- Check that the registration details are correct.
- Select Register.
Manage devices after registration
After you set up the arrival display and the badge printer, manage them in the web dashboard at Manage > Devices.
The Arrival Displays tab lists each display with its building, its Pairing state, its Printer status ("Configured" when it has a badge printer) and its Enrolled date.
The Badge Printers tab lists each printer with its building and its Enrolled date, with options to edit or remove it.
To see or change which arrival displays use a printer, select Edit next to the printer.
