Migrate your Office 365 connection from Exchange Web Services (EWS) to Microsoft Graph API before Microsoft turns off EWS on October 1, 2026. Robin accounts created before September 2023 use EWS.
Who needs to migrate
You need to migrate if your office uses Office 365, created its Robin account before September 2023 and has not migrated to Graph API yet.
Why migrate
Microsoft is retiring EWS for Exchange Online. Graph API gives you more control over calendar and mailbox access, with better security options. People who use Robin see no difference.
Microsoft also removed the ApplicationImpersonation role from Exchange Online. From May 2024, Microsoft blocked new assignments of the role. In February 2025, Microsoft removed the role.
If Robin connects through an EWS service account that uses impersonation, Robin cannot reach any of your resource calendars. Migrate to Graph API to keep calendar sync working. Graph API customers are not affected. For details, see Microsoft's post Retirement of RBAC Application Impersonation in Exchange Online.
Permissions you need
A Microsoft global admin migrates the connection through an Enterprise app. You can limit the scopes with Role Based Access Control (RBAC).
Migrate to Graph API
Use the Microsoft Graph migration tool to move your connection yourself.
