Microsoft Teams + Robin: Get a summary of "Who's in" the office

Use the Robin bot in Microsoft Teams to look up who is going to the office, where a teammate is sitting, and if your favorite space is free. The Robin app works with the Teams desktop, web, and mobile app.

Before you start

Make sure that:

You cannot @mention the bot

You cannot start the messaging extension by @mentioning the bot.

Sunsetting previous commands

As part of a new Teams experience, Robin removed these previous Teams commands:

  • Where is [person]: Finds where a person is sitting
  • Where is [space]: Gets space details
  • Free at [location]: Gets meeting room availability for a location

Get a summary of who is in the office

  1. Add Robin to one of your "Team channels", if it is not there yet.

  2. Open the Robin app in the channel from the overflow tool menu below the chat box, or from the overflow menu on a message.

  3. Select the "Who's coming in" command. The Robin bot asks you to select an office location from the drop-down menu.

The Robin bot posts a digest of who is going to that office that week in the same channel. It looks something like this:

Select Update your plans to see a detailed list of everyone who plans to go to the office each day, with the option to join them. Join takes you to Robin, where you finish your plans.
