During the onboarding process or when creating a new floor, Robin will prompt you to upload floor plans. The three options from above will appear on a modal.
Select "Draw a map from a CAD file".
You will be prompted to upload your CAD file.
CAD files must be uploaded one floor at a time.
Files must be less than 30MB.
CAD files must be of the .dxf file type.
Uploading the file will show a progress indicator, showing if your file is compatible with Robin's uploader and progress during upload.
Once you've uploaded the file, you'll be prompted to select which layers to use from your file to create the map. Robin will automatically detect which layers render the best in Robin, but you ultimately have the choice of which layers to render.
Once you've selected your layers, you will be taken to the Map Editor to make sure the file has rendered correctly, and make any final adjustments before saving it.
Don't try to add elements like desks or furnishings from your file or in the Map Editor, as those are best represented and used from the desks and furnishings in Layout.
Save your map, and you will be taken to the Layout tool to publish it and get to adding details like desks, spaces, and furnishings.
Important: Uploading a CAD map over an existing map will not get rid of your other map resources like desks, spaces or furnishings.
However, it might make those items appear differently on your map screen and require moving them to their correct locations on the new floor plan.
Upon saving the uploaded file, you will be taken to Robin's map editor to finalize the structural layout before adding desks, spaces, resources and furnishings.
Maps created from CAD files will usually be accessible instantly, but may take a few minutes to become live after they’ve been uploaded and published. The maps should appear within 10 minutes of uploading.
