Set up a status board

What a status board does

Set up a status board in the web dashboard to show real-time availability on a big screen. People look at a TV in your office, or touch an interactive map, and reserve spaces and desks by availability, amenities and location.

Admins set up status boards. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the web dashboard and select Manage in the top ribbon.
  2. Select Devices in the left panel.
  3. Select Add a device.
  4. Select Status Board.
  5. Select a board type:
    • Static map
    • Interactive map (requires a touchscreen)
    • Scheduling (only supports spaces)
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Name the board for where it goes in the office.
  8. Select the building and floor. For a scheduling board, all spaces are selected by default. To show only specific spaces or areas of the office, deselect spaces in the list.
  9. To restrict the status board to an IP address, enter the IP addresses (router IPs) or IP CIDR blocks to allowlist them. The status board then loads information only on these approved networks. How to Add a Status Board Device in Robin - Step 11.jpeg
  10. Select Continue.
  11. For a map, drag the map to where the status board goes in the office.
  12. Use the toggle to add or remove the "you are here" marker. How to Add a Status Board Device in Robin - Step 13.jpeg
  13. Choose how the map looks on the board. Keep the default dark theme or change to the light theme.
  14. Use the "Show zoomed map" toggle to focus the map on one area of the office. This helps when there are several kiosks near each other. Use the corner points to reshape the selection, and use the "rotate" button to rotate it.Screenshot 2024-10-08 at 2.02.06 PM.png

  16. Select Activate status board.
  17. Copy the unique URL. How to Add a Status Board Device in Robin - Step 20.png
  18. Open a web browser and paste the URL:
    • Make the window full screen (for example, on a mini PC or Chromecast).
    • For kiosk boards, the browser must be on a touch-enabled display or input device.
    • On a TV, set the board to fullscreen.

The board updates automatically when statuses change.

Edit or delete a status board

If you delete a status board for a building or level and then create the same board again, the web dashboard activates a new link. Copy the new link to your status board device. The old link no longer works.

To edit or delete a status board:

  1. In the top ribbon of the web dashboard, go to Manage > Devices > Status Boards.
  2. Select the pencil icon next to a board in the list.

Rotate the kiosk

Admins can rotate the kiosk so its orientation matches the physical space around it. For example, the left side of the kiosk shows what is to your left when you look at it.
