Set up a Robin status board on Neat Board (Custom App mode)

What you need

Set up a Robin status board on a Neat Board 32, Neat Board 50 or Neat Board Pro with Neat's Custom App mode (Beta). Custom App mode shows the status board full screen, like a kiosk. It hides browser controls such as the address bar, so the display looks clean and professional.

To learn more about Custom Apps on Neat Hub, see https://support.neat.no/article/get-started-neat-pulse-app-hub/#understand

Before you start, make sure you have these things:

  • Neat Board 32, Neat Board 50 or Neat Board Pro
  • Active Robin account with admin privileges
  • Active Neat Pulse Plus or Pro account (the Custom App feature requires a paid tenant)
  • Custom Web App enabled in Neat Pulse
  • Stable network connection (Ethernet recommended)

Setup takes about 15-20 minutes.

Part 1: Create your Robin status board

Before you set up your Neat Board, create a status board in the Robin dashboard to get its unique URL.

Step 1: Open the Robin dashboard

  1. Sign in to your Robin account at dashboard.robinpowered.com.
  2. Select Manage in the top navigation bar.
  3. Select Devices in the left sidebar.
  4. Select Create a status board.

Step 2: Choose your status board type

Select the type that fits your needs. This guide uses an Interactive Map, because it makes full use of the Neat Board touchscreen.

  • Static Map: A view of the floor plan and availability that people cannot interact with.
  • Scheduling Board: Big-screen signage with meeting schedules.
  • Interactive Map (Recommended): A touchscreen interface to search for and book spaces.

Step 3: Configure the status board settings

Complete these fields:

  • Name: Give your board a descriptive name (for example, "Main Floor Kiosk").
  • Location: Select the office location.
  • Floor: Choose the floor to show.
  • Map Position: Drag the marker to the physical location of the board. This creates a "You Are Here" marker.
  • Privacy Options: Turn features on or off to meet your requirements, such as hiding employee names, meeting details or desk assignments.

Step 4: Activate the board and copy the URL

  1. Select Activate status board.
  2. Copy the unique URL that shows (for example, https://dashboard.robinpowered.com/status_boards/[unique-id]).

Keep this URL secure. Anyone with the URL can view the board.

Part 2: Configure the Neat device for App mode

Enroll the Neat Board in Neat Pulse, then add the status board as a web app.

Step 5: Enroll the device in Neat Pulse

  1. On your computer, go to pulse.neat.no.
  2. Go to Devices > Add device.
  3. Name the device. In the web browser, enter the pairing code that shows on the Neat Board.
  4. Note the Pulse enrollment code. You use it in Step 8, then select Continue on the Neat Board to complete enrollment.

Step 6: Factory reset the board (if it was set up before)

If your board is set up for Teams or Zoom, factory reset it first.

  1. Select More (three dots) > Settings > System.
  2. Select Reset to factory settings.
  3. If the board asks for the admin password, enter it. The default is the last 6 digits of the serial number.

Step 7: Start the out-of-box setup

Follow the on-screen prompts to select your language and connect to the network (Ethernet recommended). Wait for the updates to complete.

Step 8: Enroll the device in Neat Pulse

  1. When the board asks for the Pulse Enrollment Code, enter the code from Step 5.
  2. The Neat device shows the name you gave it in Pulse.
  3. Select Continue on the Neat Board to complete enrollment.

Step 9: Select the "Other" platform

When the board asks you to select a platform:

  1. Select Other at the bottom left.
  2. Select Continue.

Do not select Microsoft Teams or Zoom. "Other" turns on App Hub mode.

Step 10: Create a web app in Neat Pulse

  1. In Neat Pulse, select Apps in the left sidebar.
  2. Select + Add web app.
  3. Configure the settings:
    • App Name: "Robin Status Board - Location Name".
    • App URL: Paste the URL you copied in Step 4.
    • App Icon: Choose the Robin app icon. (512x512p minimum png file/link needed - higher resolution version of this? idwrDD55w7.jpeg (400×400))
  4. Select Add.

Step 11: Assign the web app to the device

  1. When the device is enrolled in Pulse and you chose "Other" as the platform, the device shows a list of apps you can activate on it.
  2. Choose your Robin Status Board app in the list.

If the Robin Status Boards app is the only active app, the device shows it and starts it automatically.

Step 12: Launch the status board

If more than one app is enabled, select the "Robin Status Board" icon on the Neat Board home screen. The status board opens in fullscreen mode.

Part 3: Use your Robin status board

People use the status board to see what is free and to book conference rooms and desks.

Status colors

The map uses these colors:

  • Green: Available
  • Yellow: Booked but not confirmed
  • Red: In use
  • Grey: Unavailable/Occupied

Book a conference room

  1. Select a room on the map, or search for it.
  2. View the capacity and amenities.
  3. Select a time block and select Book.

Check in at the room display, or Robin releases the booking.

Book a desk

  1. Select Book Desk, or select a green desk on the map.
  2. Select Reserve.

A desk reservation made at the kiosk lasts from the time you book until the end of the day only. You cannot book for a later date at the kiosk.

Part 4: Troubleshooting and tips

Use these fixes for common problems and these URLs for setup.

Common issues

  • Add Web App option missing in Pulse: This option requires a paid Neat Pulse tenant. Contact Neat support.
  • Address bar is visible: Make sure the active app is your web app.
  • Login prompt appears: Make sure the board is activated in Robin and IP allowlisting is configured correctly. Anyone with the URL should be able to open the board.
  • Blocked IP message appears: Make sure the public IP of the location is in the Robin Allow List.

You use these sites during setup:

  • Robin Dashboard: dashboard.robinpowered.com
