Upload a CAD file (.dxf) of your floor plan, and Robin draws your office map from it automatically. You choose the layers to use, check the map in the Map Editor, and then publish it in the Layout tool.
Check your CAD file
Robin asks you to add a floor plan during onboarding and when you create a floor. The Add a new map window shows 3 options: Have Robin draw your map, Draw a map from a CAD file and Draw a custom map. This article covers the CAD file option.
Before you upload, check that your file meets these rules:
- The file is a .dxf file.
- The file is less than 30 MB.
- The file shows 1 floor. Upload CAD files one floor at a time.
Upload your CAD file

Select Draw a map from a CAD file, then select Let's go.

Drag your .dxf file to the upload area, or select the area to find the file on your computer.

Select Import. A progress indicator shows the upload. It also tells you if Robin cannot use your file.
Choose the layers for your map
After the upload, select the layers from your file that Robin uses to make the map. Robin finds the layers that show best in Robin and selects them for you. You can change the selection.
Check the map in the Map Editor
After you select the layers, the Map Editor opens. Check that Robin drew the file correctly, and finish the walls and rooms of your floor. Make any last changes before you save.
Do not add desks or furnishings from your file or in the Map Editor. Add them in the Layout tool instead. There, they work as Robin desks and furnishings.
Save and publish your map
Save your map in the Map Editor. Robin then opens the Layout tool. Publish the map there, and then add desks, spaces, resources and furnishings. To use the map on a floor, see Assign your Robin map to a floor.
A map from a CAD file is usually ready at once. It can take a few minutes to go live after you upload and publish it. The map appears within 10 minutes.
Upload a CAD file over an existing map
When you upload a CAD file for a floor that already has a map, Robin keeps your desks, spaces and furnishings. They can show in different places on the new floor plan. Move them to their correct locations.
