Set up room displays with MDM

Set up room displays with your Mobile Device Management (MDM) provider to deploy and manage the room displays in your workplace. You pair a fleet of displays with a set of spaces. The MDM token for initial setup expires after 24 hours.

Requirements

  • Advanced Authentication & User Management
  • Room displays must run Robin Rooms version 4.1.2 or later
  • Admin access in Robin
  • Admin access in your MDM provider

Supported MDM providers include Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM and JAMF. Any provider that follows the AppConfig community standard should also work.

Turn off Single App Mode before you pair

Turn off Single App Mode and Autonomous Single App Mode on your displays before you follow the steps below. Displays in these modes do not receive their space pairing. You can turn on this setting after you pair the displays.

Start pairing in the web dashboard

  1. Go to Manage > Devices.
  2. Select Add a device.
  3. Select Multiple Room Displays.
  4. Select a building.
  5. Select the rooms to pair with displays.
  6. Select Generate MDM token. Robin generates an MDM token.
  7. Copy the MDM token. You enter it in your MDM provider.

This workflow assigns one display at random to each selected room. To assign more displays to a space, or specific displays to specific spaces, see Set up your room display.

Set up the application configuration in your MDM provider

For where to enter the MDM token, see your MDM provider's instructions. The screenshots below show the configuration in Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM and JAMF.

  1. In your MDM provider, turn on application configuration.
  2. Enter the MDM token from Robin.

  3. Confirm the application configuration.
  4. Deploy the application configuration to your displays.

Pairing starts right away in most cases.

Monitor progress in the web dashboard

Progress shows for 24 hours after you generate the MDM token.

  1. Go to Manage > Devices.
  2. Select the [number] active MDM deployments link above the table. It shows on the Room Displays tab while a token is active.
  3. Select View progress. You see the pairing progress.

After all the displays are paired, mount the displays on the wall.

Turn on Autonomous Single App Mode

Supervised displays support Autonomous Single App Mode (ASAM). You supervise a display with Apple Configurator or Apple's Device Enrollment Program. You can turn on this setting in your MDM provider or in Robin Rooms.

When ASAM is on, Robin Rooms stays in the foreground in Single App Mode. If the display loses connectivity, it exits Single App Mode so you can troubleshoot more easily. It returns to ASAM automatically when the app is open and the display is back online.
