Robin can check people in without anyone tapping a button. There are two kinds of automatic check-in:
- People check-in checks a person in to their desk and other reservations when Robin sees they are in the office. It uses badge swipes and the office Wi-Fi.
- Room check-in confirms a meeting when the room's video hardware sees people in the room. It uses Logitech Sync and Neat Pulse.
People check-in never confirms a meeting, and room check-in never checks in a person.
Compare the methods
| Method | What tells Robin | What it checks in |
|---|---|---|
| Badge swipe | A swipe at a door reader, from your access control system | Desks and other resources booked in that building. With no booking, Robin records an office visit. |
| Wi-Fi | The person's phone or computer is on your office network | Desks and other resources booked in that building. With no booking, Robin records an office visit. |
| Logitech Sync | A Logitech room device counts people in the room | The room's meeting |
| Neat Pulse | A Neat room sensor counts people in the room | The room's meeting |
| Google Meet hardware | A Meet device in the room joins a call | Coming soon |
People check-in
Every check-in has a status:
- Confirmed onsite: Robin knows the person is in the office, because they swiped their badge or joined the office Wi-Fi.
- Remote: the person checked in from the app or the web, and Robin has no signal that they are in the office.
Admins see the status in desk check-in statuses and in attendance.
People can also check in by scanning a QR code or NFC tag on the desk. That is not automatic, but it is a local check-in, like a badge swipe or Wi-Fi.
Local check-ins work with local check-in only, which makes people check in at the office and not from home.
They also count toward abandoned desk protection. A checked-in desk is not released.
Room check-in
Room check-in needs two settings, and both are off by default:
- Automatic meeting confirmation for the building. Go to Manage > Offices, select the building, and open the Check-in tab.
- Enable auto-checkins for the building on the integration's page, for example Manage > Integrations > Logitech.
When the room is occupied, Robin confirms the meeting that is in progress. If no meeting is in progress, Robin confirms the next meeting, if it starts inside the meeting check-in window.
- A person's own check-in always comes first. If the meeting is already confirmed, nothing changes.
- A confirmed meeting is not released by abandoned meeting protection.
- The room must be mapped to a room in Robin. Each integration's article explains how.
